SECURITY POLICY

SECURITY POLICY

This policy is designed to provide consistent procedures for handling spectator behavior during all varsity games in the East Penn Hockey League.

CLUB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Each club is required to provide a volunteer to wear the Security Vest, and act as a monitor of fans/parents of their team.  The home team will have a form that each volunteer will sign for that day’s game.  They will be required to wear the security vest (which will provided by the league to each team) for the duration of the game.  They will be expected to address problematic behavior from their team’s fans/parents.

PROBLEMATIC  BEHAVIOR:

Problematic behavior is characterized as any behavior that is unsportsmanlike in nature, which could lead to a dangerous situation for those spectators attending the game.

RINK SECURITY:

While it is the goal of this policy to prevent dangerous situations from occurring, these security volunteers are not expected to put themselves in a dangerous situation.  Rather they should seek further assistance from rink personnel should it become necessary.  As all varsity games will be held at The Body Zone, the club volunteer should report any problems to the ice desk at Body Zone.  From that point, The Body zone has a procedure in place to notify a manager on duty, who if necessary with contact the local police.

GATE FEES:

Tickets sales for the gate fee are the responsibility of the home team.  The Bodyzone  has tables that can be set up just inside the main door of the rink.  There should be a minimum of two adults at this table.  While younger children may help with this task, they must be supervised by two adults.

DESIGNATE HOME /AWAY AREAS:

The home team is also responsible to notify spectators which areas of the stands are for home/away fans.  Typically it will be the side directly opposite their bench.  Your volunteers can give this information as they take the gate fees.  The volunteers wearing the Security Vests should watch for disruptive groups in the wrong area, and remind them to find seats in their respective areas.

Games will not start until monitors are signed in and in place.  The referees are aware of this rule.  Should the game be delayed until monitors are in place time will be deducted from the third period in order to stay within our allotted ice time.
